As mentioned in a previous POST, I’ll be giving a clarinet clinic at TMEA 2014 (Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention). TMEA 2014 will be held February 12-15, 2014 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
My clinic will be on Friday, February 14 at 11:30 a.m. in Room CC 008. (Yes, Valentine’s Day!) The clinic is being sponsored by the great folks at Music & Arts.
Below are my official clinic handout and short bio I just sent to TMEA. (It took me forever to cut the bio to 499 characters, so I’m putting it below also!)

TMEA CLINIC: How to Develop Great Clarinetists: Basics and Musical Style
The primary hindrances to clarinetists performing with excellence at all levels are usually weaknesses in fundamentals and knowledge of musical style. Dean will provide clarinet teachers practical information that addresses each of these areas. Clarinet embouchure, voicing, and articulation will receive special attention, and there will be time for questions and answers
TMEA BIO [499 Characters!]: Carnegie Hall, Royal Northern College of Music and ClarinetFest recital appearances headline Dr. Michael Dean’s extensive career. Recently a tenured professor at SE Missouri State, he is an active performer and clinician maintaining a large private studio based in Dallas/Fort Worth. TMEA CLINIC HANDOUT: Below is the main one-page handout. I will also be passing out my Practice Routine/Practice Tips and E-Tips for E-Lips articles. All my TMEA clinic handouts are available in easy-to-print PDF under “News” on the home page of clarinetmike.com.
